Meet the Teacher 

 Hi! My name is Dawn Thompson.  I have been a teacher for thirteen years, and this is my ninth year teaching at Maternity BVM.  I absolutely love teaching the fourth grade!  It is such an exciting age, filled with so many new firsts.  Every year I look forward to seeing a new group of faces.  I always seem to learn just as much from these budding nine and ten year olds as they do from me.  Most of all, I love seeing how each child changes over the year as they grow closer to God.  I feel so blessed to be a part of their lives and to work together with parents and our school community, as we watch them use their talents and abilities to glorify God!

 I grew up in Lansing, Illinois, not too far from here.  I went to a Christian grade school and high school there.  I graduated from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill.  Shortly after working in that area as a fourth and fifth grade teacher, I met my husband.  He is an Olivet professor in the Exercise and Sports Science department.  We have two beautiful little girls, Emilee and Leah.  They are learning so many new things every day and keep me on my toes!  I can't forget to mention my other "family" members.  I have a 100 lb. German short-haired pointer, a fluctuating number of fish.

    I have enjoyed being involved at MBVM over the years.  I am currently the yearbook coordinator for our school and I work with the Student Council as well.  Both of these have given me the chance to get to know the students of all ages in our school.
