It is not how much you do,
but how much Love you put into the doing that matters.
-Mother Teresa Educational Philosophy
Science education should help students understand how they can use their knowledge to solve problems. Students will understand that scientists use observing, experimenting, inferring, predicting, classifying, and making models to learn about the world.
As a Catholic science teacher, each student will understand their responsibilities as a Christian scientist. Students are encouraged to evaluate science using their knowledge that all life is a gift from God.
Our responsibility as steward's of God's earth is to use this knowledge for the better of all life. My role as a Catholic science teacher is to:
1) Promote an open and safe environment, where students are
encouraged to express their own ideas and opinions
2) Assess students’ science knowledge and adapt instruction appropriately.
3) Design lessons and experiments that help students:
a. Gain knowledge, make observations, complete research, design experiments, and apply new information to solve problems.
b. Learn the importanceof understanding/applyingscientific principles.
c. Evaluate current scientific principles and compare their validity to Catholic principles.
